EP Rapporteur on Croatia To Submit Report on Tuesday
Zagreb, January 28 (CP) – The European Parliament rapporteur Hannes Swoboda has in his latest report saying that Croatia could face problems due to the implementation of the Protected Ecology and Fishery Zone in the Adriatic (ZERP) against EU-members Slovenia and Italy.
Swoboda has also expressed concern over European Commission’s criticism of the way Croatia had been managing funds secured by the EU and has called on the European Commission to help sort out the problem.
In the report that Swoboda will be presenting to the EU Foreign Policy Committee on Tuesday, he will be praising Croatia for the progress it had made during 2007.
He announced a new resolution on Croatia could be adopted in April or March.
Swoboda is expected to say that the joint effort of Croatia and EU institutions may result in Croatia finalizing the accession agreement prior to the next EP elections in June 2009 so that the ratification of Croatia’s accession agreement can start as soon as possible.
