Croatian Handball Squad Win Silver at the European Championships

Zagreb, January 27 (CP) – Croatian handball team captured the silver medal during a nail-biting European championships finals game with Denmark in Norway.

Although the Croats managed to keep a good pace during the first minutes of the game, the Danes played exceptionally well and managed to turn the game around winning in the end 24-20.

The goalkeeper Mirko Alilovic has been praised for his play, as well as Zlatko Horvat and Ivan Cupic, the young players who superbly replaced Mirza Dzomba and Vedran Zrnic.

The world’s no. 1 player, Ivano Balic was quite disappointed with losing the game, but said that the Danes should be congratulated on their game, as they had deservedly captured the gold.

Best Left Back – Daniel Narcisse – France
Ivano Balic – Best Playmaker – Croatia
Best Pivot – Frank Loke – Norway
Best Right Back – Kim Andersson – Sweden
Best Right Wing – Florian Kehrmann – Germany
 
The best defensive player was Igor Vori from Croatia and three players shared the top goal scorer title with 44 goals each.

They were Lars Christiansen from Denmark, Ivano Balic from Croatia and Nikola Karabatic from France.
