Ivica Kostelic Captures Second Place in World Cup Super Combined Downhill in Chamonix
ZAGREB, January 27 (CP) — Ivica Kostelic has captured the second place in the FIS Alpine ski World Cup Men’s Super Combined Downhill event on Sunday.
The results of the combined downhill and single slalom run had secured the best placement for Croatian top skier Ivica Kostelic this season.
He had trailed behind the winner, U.S.’s Bode Miller, while Austrian Rainer Schoenfelder came in third.
After nearly 13 months of very modest results, Kostelic had made it onto the podium last week in Kitzbuehel where he captured the third place in classic combination event, only to fully prove his good form with this latest good result.
Kostelic was great in the downhill coming in 8th and he had a great slalom run beating Miller by 1.3 seconds, but the American had secured enough difference in the downhill event and ended up in first place.
Miller has now taken over from Austrian Benjamin Raich the overall World Cup lead.
Another Croatian skier Natko Zrncic-Dim came in 16th and Tin Siroki captured the 37th place.
