Verdict in the Rape Trial of Lika Tycoon Josip Mraovic Postponed
Zagreb, January 29 (CP) – Although a verdict was expected to be handed down at the Rijeka county court in the trial of local Gospic tycoon Josip Mraovic for the rape of American basketball player Ilisha Jarrett, the hearing has been postponed until February 6.
The reason for this is that the evidence material regarding the testimony of Jarrett at the Gospic police station has been allowed to be included.
Josip Mraovic has made headlines when he explained that he did not try to rape the American basketball player, but just enjoyed a handshake with her.
The said ‘handshake’ left Jarrett with bruises the pictures of which she later submitted as evidence.
Mraovic is known for having his own way in the Lika area, where he is referred to by the locals as ‘The Gospic Tudjman’. Hopefully this time he will be brought to justice.
