Foreign Ministry Reacts to Rupel’s Claims
Zagreb, January 30 (CP) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has refuted claims by Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel who said that over the past few months Croatia had practically severed diplomatic relations with Slovenia and that there has been no contact between the two countries’ foreign ministries for six months.
This type of statement does not contribute to the strengthening of freindly and good-neighbourly relations between the two countries nor does it contribute to the creation of a positive atmosphere for resolving open issues, said the Ministry.
During discussion at European Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee on Tuesday regarding Croatia’s Ecological and Fisheries Protection Zone in the Adriatic, European MP Doris Pack said that she did not understand why there was a problem with Croatia’s zone, since all three Italy, Slovenia and Croatia have declared ecological zones but now everyone was blaming Croatia.
