Four NGO’s Present Report on War Crimes Trials Monitoring in Croatia in 2007
February 4th, 2008
Zagreb, February 4 (CP) – Four NGO’s Centar za mir from Osijek, Documenta, Civilian Commission for Human Rights and Croatia Helsinki Committee (HHO) have put forward their report on war crimes trials in Croatia.
It was said that most of the trials were not below the standard level of fair procedures.
The report calls for the strengthening of war crimes investigative centres, as this is one of the goals of the judiciary reform, as well as for support to be secured for witnesses and victims in the war crimes trials, as well as that in absentia indicted war crimes perpetrators be secured a fair trial.
The NGO representatives followed 28 trials held at 11 county courts.
