February 7th, 2008
Zagreb, February 7 (CP) — The Rijeka county court has sentenced Gospic tycoon Josip Mraovic to three years in prison for the attempted rape of American basketball player Illisha Jarrett.
The incident happened in 2005 when tycoon Mraovic came to Jarrett’s hotel room and forced a finger up her anus in an attempt to rape her.
Mraovic has the right to appeal the sentence which he is expected to do.
In the first trial for the same offence Mraovic was acquitted, but the Supreme Court demanded a re-trial after looking into an appeal by state attorney’s office.
