Croatia To Seek €30 Mln in Damages in Turkish Ship Incident

Zagreb, February 8 (CP) – According to assistant Sea and Transport Minister captain Marko Bibic, who spoke to Nova TV Croatian commercial television, Croatia is to seek €30 million in damages following the fire incident on the Turkish ship off the Croatian coast near the islands of Brijuni.
The Turkish ship which caught fire some 13 nautical miles from the Croatian coast on Thursday is said to have a €1 billion fire insurance.
The cargo ship carrying 200 lorries and tons of oil derivatives, which pose a threat to the environment, is being kept in place by two tow boats, but it is as yet not clear where it will be towed.
