Turkish Cargo Ship Finally Leaves Croatian Waters
Zagreb, February 17 (CP) – The Turkish ship that had caught fire off Croatian coast on February 6 is towed away towards the Italian port of Trieste on Sunday.
The Turkish cargo ship that had caught fire as it was on its way to the Italian port of Trieste has finally been towed away by two Italian vessels, the operation beginning at noon on Sunday, when the go-ahead was given by the Pula port authorities, once it fulfilled all the safety requirements.
The arrival of the vessel in Trieste is expected during Monday.
The Turkish ship caught fire on February 6 and there were fears that it might pollute the sea due to the hazardous cargo it was carrying. All the 22 crewmembers and nine passengers were rescued by a Greek vessel and the fire aboard the ship was put out on February 9.
