Serbian Ambassador To Croatia Lobbies with Croatian President Mesic over Kosovo Declaration of Independence; Croatia May Announce Recognition Date Today
Zagreb, February 18 (CP) – Croatian president Stjepan Mesic has received the Serbian Ambassador to Croatia, Radivoj Cvjeticanin on Monday.
Cvjeticanin conveyed to Mesic a message by Serbian president Boris Tadic regarding Kosovo’s declaration of independence. The message contains the well-known views of Serbia regarding Kosovo independence.
Croatia is expected to publish the date it plans to recognize Kosovo today.
Meanwhile, Slovenia, currently at the EU helm has announced that most of the EU members would recognize Kosovo. Rupel added that the recognition of Kosovo was not an issue of the EU as a whole, but one that each of its members needs to deal with separately.
The EU members least supporting Kosovo’s recognition are Spain and Cyprus, which within their midst have similar calls for independence within their own borders.
