Sunday Trade Ban Proposal Forwarded to Parliament

Zagreb, March 6 (CP) — The latest proposal by the government on banning Sunday trade has been forwarded to parliament.
Under the proposal all shops would be shut on Sundays and all holidays with the exception of summer months and December and would be open between 6am and 9 pm on working days.
The ban will be eased between June 1 and October 1 and during Christmas and New Year’s holidays when all shops will be allowed to be open between 6am and 1 pm.
The issue of Sunday trade has been a hot potato for a while now. Some two years ago there had been a ban on Sunday trade which was overturned by the Constitutional court due to its discriminating nature against certain shops.
