Assassination Attempt Victim Journalist Pukanic May Have His Handgun Confiscated
Zagreb, April 12 (CP) – Police chief Marijan Benko has confirmed that journalist and co-owner of the Nacional weekly, Ivo Pukanic would be stripped of his legally possessed handgun, due to breaching the law on arms.
The two possible reasons for assassination attempt victim Pukanic being stripped of his handgun is the fact that he came to pick up his wife from hospital on Friday with his gun in full view, which represents a breech of the law.
Also, in the botched attack on him on the night of April 10, when two shots were fired at him, but both missed their target, Pukanic allegedly shot in the air to scare his attacker.
Articles in the media have recently emerged claiming Pukanic had staged the assassination attempt to draw away attention from a scandal which he is involved in with pulling strings and getting his wife into an asylum to secure she is labelled ‘insane’ so he can keep all his possessions in case of a divorce.
Pukanic’s wife, Mirjana, has been released from hospital after doctors assessed she was sane and did not pose a danger to anyone.
