Policeman near Croatian Resort of Opatija Shoots and Injures an Italian Man and a Croatian Woman; Turns the Gun on Himself
Zagreb, April 26 (CP) – An off-duty policeman got into a fight with an Italian man who was in the company of a 24-year-old woman and shot them both in the legs and arms, only to then shoot himself in the head on Saturday near the Croatian coastal resort of Opatija.
The policemen 43-year-old policeman died in a Rijeka hospital about an hour after the incident.
It is not clear what the scuffle was about, but what is known at this point is that the policemen and the Italian got into an argument at a restaurant car park and the policemen shot both him and the Croatian woman in the limbs and then shot himself in the head.
The injured Italian managed to get into the restaurant and call for help.
The policeman had been off duty at the time of the incident and used his official gun in the shooting.
