Human Skin Cultivation Begins in Croatia

Zagreb, May 16 (CP) — The human skin cultivation that has begun at a Zagreb laboratory is to be used at the trauma centre to cover burns with skin grafts.
This will alleviate the need for import.
A great need for cultivated skin had occurred last summer when a group of firefighters were seriously injured while putting out a fire on a Croatian island and large amounts of skin had to be imported.
The cultivation process takes about a month and during that period the skin can grow from 1 square centimetre to 70.
