Croatian Businessman Goran Strok To Purchase Liburnia Rivijera Hotels

Zagreb, May 17 (CP) – The Croatian hotelier Goran Strok is to reimburse the government in the amount of 160 million kuna in order to obtain control of the 15 Liburnia Rivijera hotels on the northern Croatian coast.

A deal on this was struck by voucher privatisation tycoon Darko Ostoja and Strok with Strok also promising to pay out €70 million to Ostoja.

This has come after lengthy court proceedings involving Ostoja and the state of Croatia with Ostoja now vacating the negotiator position to Strok.

Strok owns a number of hotels in Dubrovnik and a luxury hotel in Rijeka and has jumped to the chance to expand his business operations to the northern Adriatic resort of Opatija.

He is to hold a fresh round of talks with deputy PM Damir Polancec to resolve outstanding issues with the government regarding Liburnia Rivijera Hotels and pump more money into them in a bid to raise the level of services to that in his Jadranski Luksuzni Hoteli chain.
