Zagreb, May 30 (CP) – According to research done using data provided by 100 Croatian hotels ranging between three and five stars and which account for 40 percent of the Croatian hotel business has shown that only 40 percent of Croatian hotels operate with a profit.
Once all the business costs are squared not even the best Croatian hotels can be pleased with their profit.
The research conducted by Horwath HTL has shown that on average Croatian hotels manage a 15 to 16,000 income per room on an annual level, while in other Mediterranean countries this figure is up to 30 percent better.
Also, for Croatian hotels to make a better profit, the rooms would need to be booked at least 60 percent of the time, while the current figure is less than 45 percent which is way below the necessary figure.
However Croatian four and five stars hotels’ services are up to 20 percent cheaper than in other similar Mediterranean countries.
